HISTORY / PROPHECY... Life's essential ingredients! Prophecy I believe is just as important as history. We often view history as a tool to keep us from making the same mistake twice. In the same way we should use prophecy and the fulfillment of it to keep us looking forward. We should strive to understand what it may reveal to us about our future and how we should react according to that knowledge. When we see prophectic scriptures come to pass and watch them roll away as historical monuments, It should make one stand up and look closely at what is to come on the horizon as well as looking back and marveling at the omniscience of God. God has reveled Himself in His prophetic Word to mankind which is called the the Bible. This has been God's chosen handbook to all generations over the age of time. Psalm 119:105 tells us, "Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path." Somewhere around four thousand years of time God anointed His prophets with visions, dreams and revelations about various prophetic related subjects that have been recorded in the Bible. Many of these have came to pass and many more we still look forward to being fulfilled. Also we have the recorded words of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. He has opened the inner eye of man with the ability to see clearly into the things of God by His gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus says in John 16:13 "But when He the Spirit of truth, comes,He will guide you into all truth; He will speak and disclose to you what is to come" Educating ourselves in the history of mankind as well as educating ourselves in the prophecy of mankind will better prepare us for what God intends for us to know. The Old Testament has many prophetic scriptures looking forward to the coming of the Messiah and His foretold suffering on the cross for mankind. It also has many prophetic scriptures relating to the end times and what will transpire as we look towards the future. The New Testament as well, has many prophecy relating scriptures. Some on the second coming of Christ and some on the unfolding events of the end times. It also includes insights on heaven, the 1000 year millennium, what our future will hold and many more valuable insights into our future life both tommorow and into eternity. Following is a list of some prophecy related scriptures you can look up and study on your own. 2 Peter 3:3-9 ..... Mockers will scoff at the return of Jesus Christ also God's patience with mankind. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18..... The rapture of the church. Matthew 24:21 and Revelation Ch.4 through Ch.19... A great Tribulation. The battle of Armageddon. Matthew 24:29-31.....Jesus will return. Matthew 25:31-46.....Believers will inherit the kingdom and unbelievers will be judged. Revelation 20:4-6.....The Millennium. Revelation Ch. 21 & ch.22.....New heaven and a new earth, The river of life, The tree of life. As you read and study these prophetic scriptures, jot down observations and questions and really begin to try to understand what God is saying to you. You will be delighted as God unfolds His loving kindness towards you and begins to reveal to you His grace and His assurance that you can know for sure what the future holds. Have you noticed how Israel is one of the smallest nations of the world and is always in the news.
Israel is the apple of God's eye and the navel of the world.
Jerusalem is considered the Royal City, The captial of the only kingdom that God has established
among men. This was the city of the Prophets, as well as the kings of David's line.
This is where the death, resurrection and the ascension of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ occurred.
Jerusalem gave birth to the Christian church when upon an assembled group in the upper room
the Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost.
In the book of Isaiah, God refers to Jerusalem as His city.
In Revelation chapter 21, The prophecy of the Apostle John tells us of the New Jerusalem,
the Holy city coming down out of heaven from God and having the glory of God.
In the New Jerusalem God Himself will be among His people.

Is it any wonder or any question as to why we should be in tune with what is going on in Jerusalem?
We not only need to understand what is happening in Israel but we are to pray for Peace in that country.

Psalm 122:6 "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; May they prosper who love you."

Prophecy is history written in advance. God through His omniscience, meaning; having infinite knowledge
and knowing all things has put the words in the mouths of His prophets and in the writings of His word.
Isaiah 46:9-11
"Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God and there is none
like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done,
saying my counsel shall stand, and I will do My pleasure. Calling a bird of prey from the east,
The man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass
I have planned it, surely I will do it."
Prophecy provides Christians with understanding and outlines God's program for the future.

The Excellence Of Love......1 Cor.13:1-2
"If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love,
I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge;
and If I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing."

Jesus Christ is the Prophetic Word.......2 Peter 1:19-21
"And so we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention
as to a lamp shining in a dark place, untill the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.
But know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation,
for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will,
but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God."

The Testimony Of Jesus.......Rev. 19:9-10
"Then the angel said to me, write:
Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the lamb!
And he added, These are the true words of God.
At this he fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, Do not do it!
I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus.
Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
